I've got 3 events lined up in Flower Mound, TX. I still have time left on Saturday if anyone would like to help me with my book selling/speaking efforts! I'll be there Wednesday 5/12 and leave on Saturday @ 4:30 pm.
I'm very excited about going back to my 'second home.' FloMo feels like my second home because I made so many wonderful friends there and unfortunately, lost my son there. Sometimes I feel like I left Cameron behind there. So being able to go back and visit is good healing for my soul.
I just did some research on suicide stats for TX and NC regarding teens. The good news is that the numbers do go down around the age of 24. Keep that in mind. Just because your teen has left home and gone away to college or to live on their own, they are still very susceptible to depression. Stay in touch with them, invite them over for dinner weekly, call but not daily (they are proving they can live on their own).
I'll keep you posted on any other research I run across or look into. Let me know if there's something you're interested in and I'll seek out the information. I know many people in the mental health field now as well as 'suicide celebrities' which is a term I coined while at the AAS conference recently. These are experts in the field of suicidology. Through their suicide prevention efforts, perhaps we can slow down the rate of suicide in this country and across the world.
The book is still selling, as it should since it's only been out since March 25 (one month and 10 days). Let's keep the momentum rolling. Please let others know about this website and the book. Everyone will learn something from one or both. Post something on your Facebook page.
Take care and hope to meet you in Texas!
