Cameron's Kids Grief Group - for kids ages 6-11
The group meets at Wake Forest United Methodist Church, 905 S. Main St., Wake Forest NC.
Times: Start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:00 pm
Kids do not understand grief and a support group can help them tremendously - especially when you, as the parent, may be grieving also. Cameron's Kids grief group will allow a safe place for your kids to explore and understand their pain and emotions.
The group will start with introductions by each child including who has died and then sharing if they like. The group will split into two separate groups; one for creative drawing or similar craft and the other for physical play time. The groups will switch areas before convening with snacks and a final sharing period.
The groups will be facilitated by Carolyn Zahnow and Lauren DeMetry-Bridges.
Visit The Shore Grief Center to register.
Save the Teens Grief Group is for teens ages 12-17.
8-week sessions will start in January 2013. The weekly sessions will incorporate art with talk therapy. Groups are facilitated and teens are not told how to feel. The facilitators provide direction and guidance, the teens provide comfort for each other.
This helps them to see that others are affected by grief just as they are. Help your teen by allowing them to discover their feelings of grief.
Meetings are held in the Wake Forest area.
Come try out a support group. Everything said in the group is confidential.
No charge to attend but donations for supplies will be greatly appreciated!
